The iPhones are a line of Internet and multimedia-enabled smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc. The first iPhone was introduced on January 9, 2007.
An iPhone functions as a camera phone, including text messaging and visual voicemail, a portable media player, and an Internet client, with e-mail, web browsing, and Wi-Fi connectivity. The user interface is built around the device's multi-touch screen, including a virtual keyboard rather than a physical one. Third-party applications are available from the App Store, which launched in mid-2008 and now has well over 200,000[2] "apps" approved by Apple. These apps have diverse functionalities, including games, reference, GPS navigation, social networking, and advertising for television shows, films, and celebrities.
There are four generations of iPhone models, and they were accompanied by four major releases of iOS (formerly iPhone OS). The original iPhone established design precedents like screen size and button placement that have persisted through all models. The iPhone 3G added 3G cellular network capabilities and A-GPS location. The iPhone 3GS added a compass, faster processor, and higher resolution camera, including video. The iPhone 4 has two cameras for FaceTime video calling and a higher-resolution display. It was released on June 24, 2010.
All set to buy the iPhone....Is it available in your country with your choice of network provider.....and what about the latest iPhone 4?
Well its better you know which carrier will be selling the iPhone 4 in your country before you start saving money for your new iPhone.
Here is a sort list that might help you : ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/the-complete-guide-to-iphone-service-providers/
Now what if your network is not listed or the phone is not available in your country with the choice of provider you want to use it with.
For eg. In the USA you may only get it with AT&T....Do you use a different provider or AT&T is too expensive for you ?
Unfortunately there is no choice.
Rumors are out that with all future upgrades Apple is going to make your iPhone completely safe and locked permanently.
This means that with all future iPhone upgrades you may end up using the provider your phone is locked to.
A lot of unlocking solutions are there in the market which temporarily unlock your phone but it gets locked again as soon as you connect it to iTunes and upgrade it. SAD BUT TRUE :(
So What Now....
My iPhone 3Gs and my friends iPhone4 got locked the same way....they were both locked to Orange UK.
After paying so many sites that claimed they could unlock my handset i had lost all hope and i took it to my local repair stores...but no luck again.
I tried looking for permanent unlocking solutions and came across this website UnlockCodeGenerator.com that claimed they could Unlock iPhone 4G O2 UK
I placed an order for my friends iPhone4 and my iPhone 3Gs.
After 1-2 days i got an email stating that our iPhones had been successfully unlocked.
It was a little hard to believe that just by giving my IMEI number how can anybody remotely unlock our phones which other people who had physical access to our phones had refused to unlock...basically because they said they could not do it.
But to my surprise i started my iPhone and connected it to iTunes....just synced it and WOLA the phones were actually unlocked.
I have successfully upgraded my firmware twice now running on 4.1 and the phone never relocks itself.
Amazing...now i regularly upgrade from apple iTunes...all speed and performance issues have been sorted out since with newer upgrades even the phone works better. In all as far as I could understand was that your registered IMEI is updated as UNLOCKED in the Apple database. That is why your phone will always be unlocked even after each new update of your phone firmware ! JUST AWESOME…
This seems to be the only successful and legitimate way to Unlock iPhone 3Gs O2 UK.
So now you can buy any iPhone locked to any countrys network provider and use it in any country with any carrier of your choice.
All I can say is that with this I can utilize my iPhone to its maximum potential and not have to worry about my phone relocking on upgradation.
Take advantage now before Apple gets out a firmware that you cant unlock..CHEERS!!
Hope that this is useful for anyone out there facing the same issues.
