Huawei W1 ST 2After first being made available via selected Walmart locations in the past few weeks as well as through its online store as a timed exclusive, StraightTalk has launched the phone through its online store for $229.99.  The Huawei W1 is the Chinese manufacturer’s first Windows Phone 8 device and features the following:

4? IPS LCD Touchscreen DisplayWindows® Phone 81.2GHZ Dual Core Processor5 MP Camera/1.3MP Front Facing CameraCustomizable Live TilesTap + SendKid’s Corner3G/Wi-Fi® ConnectivityPeople HubXbox MusicAccess to over 130,000 Live Apps in Windows Phone MarketplaceSupports microSD™ Card up to 32GBHearing Aid Compatible (HAC) Rating: M3Battery talk time up to 7 hoursStandby time up to 13 daysIncludes Battery, Charger, Activation Card, Services Guide and Quick Reference Manual.

The W1 marks a departure for StraightTalk’s GSM as it’s a brand new device powered by AT&T despite the virtual operator’s falling out with the carrier earlier this year regarding BYOD, with AT&T pulling support and subsequently forcing Straight Talk to transition to T-Mobile for BYOD support while drastically reducing AT&T powered smartphone availability to markets that were not served by any other carriers as well as ceasing sales of AT&T SIM cards.
